People often say that music is their therapy. For music to have such a positive impact on the lives of others is refreshing for me. It sometimes can be difficult for individuals to differentiate between music enhancing a mood they have and clinical music therapy. At TranscendED our board certified music therapist provides music-based interventions to assist patients in expressing, validating, and/or evoking emotions. Often times, patients are able to achieve self-confidence and better connection with their emotional processes, mostly due to music therapy being a non-threatening treatment modality. Music first effects individuals emotionally before cognitively, thus allowing patients who find it difficult to experience emotions the ability to do so in a safe environment.
