Music Therapy

Music is universal in the way that engages the human spirit. Music validates the emotional process and bypasses thinking altogether. We feel music before we can think about it. Individuals with eating disorders are often stuck in their own minds and present difficulty connecting with and experiencing their own emotions. Music engages the emotions before thought can occur. Music can also provoke thought. Music is about feelings, emotions, and memories. It’s about acknowledging pain, validating the human experience, and above all…healing. At TranscendED, patients receive music therapy treatment through active music-making interventions utilizing improvisational techniques, lyric analysis, and music-based mindfulness training.

Yoga

Yoga allows the body to talk. The tension held within the body is released through holding and switching poses as the mind and body are connected. Yoga is emotionally grounding as much as it emotionally evocative. At TranscendED we use yoga to challenge distorted body image, awaken body awareness and acceptance, and to teach clients the art of yoga as a means for positive coping and greater mind-body-connection. Yoga assists our patients on their journey toward recovery in allowing them to surrender to each moment as it arrives.

Body Positivity Treatment Center

TranscendED encourages individuals to embrace their healthy and unique selves through compassionate service and programs. We support individuals through full and sustained recovery methods for disorders that include binge eating, bulimia, and anorexia. Our mission is to build the strengths of each individual and open doors to a more meaningful life.

Rather than dictating a restrictive or prescriptive set of rules to follow, we use practical tools, inspiration, and support to empower people to find their own way to lasting health and greater happiness. As a result, we are able to reach a widely diverse group of people, helping to heal those who struggle with issues such as poor self-care, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, self-harming behaviors, substance abuse, weight cycling, and relationship violence. We provide body-oriented social emotional education to help young people and adults create positive relationships with their physical selves that allow them to thrive.

The Be Body Positive Model is comprised of five core Competencies, the fundamental skills we can practice on a daily basis to live peacefully and healthfully in our bodies. Proficiency with these skills allows us to care for ourselves from a place of self-love and appreciation, leading to alignment with our purpose and life goals. Our model defines health as the interconnectedness of physical, psychological, and emotional needs in human beings. The Competencies of Reclaim Health, Practice Intuitive Self-Care, Cultivate Self-Love, Declare Your Own Authentic Beauty, and Build Community. Establish foundational building blocks that honor individual authority as the primary path to positive change.
